“Creativity takes courage.” Henri Matisse 

Hey there! My name is Emily Ireland and I am a self taught acrylic landspace artist. From painting, to singing, figure skating, and writing music... each art form speaks to me in a different way, and I want to share that with you! As Henri Matisse says “Creativity takes courage.” I took this to heart when I started my artistic career. 

Coming out of the pandemic the world seemed so chaotic. I needed a way to quiet my mind while still engaging it. I decided to pick up a paint brush and try my hand at painting landscapes. My dad is a painter and his naturescapes hang on the walls in my childhood home. Hoping his steady hand was passed down to me, I put brush to paper and… it was awful! 

My first few months of painting were, let’s just say, for my eyes only. But even though they weren’t what comes to mind when you think of a masterpiece, in my eyes they were. They were a reflection on my courage to be creative and not stop just because I wasn’t Picasso right out of the gate.

The same sentiment followed me into my music career. My first attempt at writing, singing, playing, and producing a song on my own was, let's just say, for my ears only. But with Matisse still ringing in my ears, (as well as my slightly out of tune guitar) I kept my courage and pursued my musical creativity. 

Now, I create art nearly everyday. Whether it’s music or painting I am continuously pursuing creativity, in an effort to bring a bit more light into this increasingly chaotic world. And I would love the opportunity to share that light with YOU.
